LITERACY KITS

Darlington County First Steps partners with Darlington County Library Systems, and Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center to provide Literacy Kits to moms who deliver newborns. Literacy Kits, also referred to as Welcome Baby Bags, are nicely designed tote bags filled with two or more board books, diapers, wipes, a Born Learning Curriculum booklet, informational brochures provided by Children's Trust of South Carolina (Safe Sleep, etc.) Health Department and others. We include gift items donated by Save the Children Foundation when available. 

We distribute over 500 bags per year and have operated this service for over 10 years.
